Index (ex-Control Top) announce debut album, share “Fractured,” touring

Index, the new LA/Philly experimental hardcore duo featuring former Control Top members Alan Creedon and Alex Lichtenauer, have announced their debut album. Vis Inertiae was produced by Arthur Rizk (Show Me The Body, Power Trip) and will be out September 25 via Get Better Records.

“We were excited about it, and it just kind of went from there,” Creedon, who still lives in Philly, says of Index. “We made plans to fly back and forth, to learn some of the songs, and work on them together, and just get the hang of it. As soon as we were in the same room doing it, and it sounded good and felt good, I was like, ‘Nothing is going to get in the way of this. We’re going to do this. It’s going to be a real thing.”

Index released their debut single “Cellophane” back in May and that opens the album. They’ve just shared the album’s second track, “Fractured,” a ripper propelled by Lichtenauer’s precise, hyper drumming and Creedon’s inventive guitarwork. “When I heard ‘Fractured’ for the first time, I was like, ‘holy fuck,’ and then I went to go to my practice space and play it,” Lichtenauer says. “And then when Al came to LA for the first time, which was late last summer, that’s when I feel like it really came together. It was like, ‘Oh, yeah, we can play these songs.’ And we just had so much fun doing it.”
