Immersion, the duo of Wire‘s Colin Newman and Minimal Compact‘s Malka Spigel, have announced the third installment in their collaborative Nanocluster album series, and this one pairs them with ambient country vets SUSS. It’s out in February and you can preorder it now.
“Collaboration is an important aspect of the type of music SUSS makes,” says SUSS’ Bob Holmes. “Whether we are collaborating with each other, or with musicians and artists outside of the band, the exploration and discovery of the unknown is central to our creative process. When Colin & Malka approached us to collaborate with them on Nanocluster, it seemed like a perfect fit. Their use of rhythm, synthesizers, bass and atmospherics felt very complementary to our instrumentation. As expected, the results were unexpected and our music was taken to a place where we would not have gone otherwise.” You can listen to the very pretty “In the Far Away” below.
Immersion and SUSS are playing Knoxville’s Big Ears festival, both separately and together for a Nanocluster performance, and they’ve announced a US tour around it. Dates kick off March 15 in Houston and wrap up in NYC on April 4 at Joe’s Pub. All dates are listed below.
