Half Waif announced her sixth album, See You At The Maypole, due out on October 4 via ANTI-. It follows 2021’s Mythopoetics and her 2024 EP Ephemeral Being, and she worked on it with her longtime collaborator Zubin Hensler. Other contributors include Jason Burger and Zack Levine (drums and percussion), Blue Ranger’s Josh Marre (guitar), Hannah Epperson and Elena Moon Park (violin), Kristina Teuschler (clarinet), Willem de Koch (trombone), Rebecca El-Saleh (harp), and Spencer Zahn (upright bass). The lead single is wistful ballad “Figurine.” “Not everyone will go through a miscarriage, but this is a song about how to continue on after losing something precious, how to find the light on your face again,” Half Waif says. Derrick Belcham directed the accompanying video, which you can watch below.
Half Waif has a pair of album release shows with Elori Saxl in October (Chatham, NY’s PS21 on October 5 and NYC’s Brooklyn Made on October 9), and she’s announced a new run of shows in 2025, with East Coast dates in January and West Coast shows in March.
