The late David Berman‘s birthday, January 4, has become a holiday of sorts to celebrate the life and music of the Silver Jews and Purple Mountains founder. In New York, there will be a 2025 DCBday celebration at Bowery Ballroom on 1/4 and the initial lineup has been announced. On tap to sing are Michael Shannon, Katy Kirby, Torres, Patrick Stickles (Titus Andronicus), Majesties, The Cartoons, Matt Hunter (Silver Jews/New Radiant Storm King/Dusty Fate), Ryan Walsh (Hallelujah the Hills), and more to be announced. Proceeds from the show will be donated to Musicares, and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
If you’re in Los Angeles, Zebulon will also host a DCBday celebration on 1/4; the lineup is still to be revealed but all proceeds will benefit the David Berman Fund at University of Virginia radio station WTJU.
