San Francisco’s Chime School have announced their second album, The Boy Who Ran the Paisley Hotel, on August 23 via Slumberland. Bandleader Andy Pastalaniec made the album at his home studio and the album follows their terrific 2021 debut.
If you’re unfamiliar with Chime School, their name and the album title give you a good idea of where they’re at musically: chiming, jangly guitar pop that owes a lot to both mid-’80s college rock (The dB’s, REM) and the late-’80s UK scene that gave us The Stone Roses and The La’s.
First single “Give Your Heart Away” is a sparkling earworm and you can watch the charming, handcrafted animated video below.
Chime School have a few West Coast shows this summer and will tour the UK/EU this fall. All dates are listed below.
