Charles Moothart, who has played and still plays in various Ty Segall bands (Freedom Band, Fuzz) and made records as CFM, will release his first album under his own name, titled Black Holes Don’t Choke, in March via In the Red. He wrote, recorded, and mixed the album entirely by himself in his Los Angeles studio, and it features more electronic elements, including samplers, than he’s ever used before.
The first single from the album is “Roll,” which Charles calls “apocalyptic pop.” That’s good descriptor, and he’s still got that glam/garage things going on; the video, directed by Matt Yoka, is pretty apocalyptic too. It premieres in this post below.
Charles has a few solo dates on the horizon, including a San Francisco show this month and a California tour in the spring. Those dates are below.
