UK synthpop vets Blancmange, who scored college radio and dance chart hits in the ’80s with “Living on the Ceiling” and “Don’t Tell Me,” will be in the US this spring for Pasadena’s Cruel World Festival, and will tour around it. This will be their first US tour since the ’80s and dates are with Midge Ure of Ultravox and Visage.
The short tour includes an NYC show at Sony Hall on May 22. All dates are listed below.
Blancmange were formed by Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe in London in 1979, and released three albums during their original run, including 1984’s Mange Tout, which was a Top 10 hit in the UK. They also scored three Top 10 UK singles with “Living on the Ceiling,” “Blind Vision,” and “Don’t Tell Me.” The duo broke up in 1986 but reformed in 2006 and released a new album, Blanc Burn; Luscombe left the group in 2011 due to health issues but Arthur has carried on, releasing many more Blancmange albums since, most recently 2022’s Private View.
