Finally! Over five and a half years (and a split EP with For Your Health) since releasing their great debut album, San Jose emo band awakebutstillinbed have announced their sophomore LP. It’s called chaos takes the wheel and i am a passenger and it comes out October 20 via Tiny Engines (pre-order). It was produced by Hop Along/Algernon Cadwallader guitarist Joe Reinhart (who’s also produced for Joyce Manor, Modern Baseball, and more), and engineered, mixed, and mastered by past collaborator Jack Shirley. Two singles are out now, “Airport” and “Redlight,” and both are great examples of what makes this band so special. (The latter features For Your Health’s Hayden Rodriguez on guest vocals.) Elements of melodic emo, harsh screamo, soaring post-rock, and more inform these hard-to-pin-down songs, and Shannon Taylor’s voice is as unique and powerful as ever. Listen below.
ABSIB also announced a full US tour, including shows with Record Setter, Stay Inside, Michael Cera Palin, Like Roses, and more, varying by date. All dates are listed on the tour poster below.
Brooklyn gets a stop on November 5 at Alphaville with Stay Inside, Like Roses, and local support from Sharkswimmer (who just released a song ft. Geoff Rickly). Tickets for that show are on sale now.
