Ambient country pioneers SUSS have announced a new album, Counting Sunsets, which will be out May 15 via Northern Spy. The band’s Pat Irwin, Bob Holmes, and Jonathan Gregg produced it themselves.
Spoiler alert: they counted 10 sunsets on Counting Sunsets, naming these tracks sequentially from “Sunset I” to “Sunset X,” layering pedal steel with synthesizers, acoustic guitars and gentle bass. You can listen to “Sunset II,” which, like pretty much everything they’ve released, is bathed in a tranquil beauty, below.
SUSS have tour dates this spring, starting in the NYC area with shows at Tubby’s Kingston on March 21 and the East Village’s Night Club 101 on March 23, both of which are with Adeline Hotel. They then head to Knoxville’s Big Ears Festival and all points West. Tour dates are listed below.
