So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
LIFEGUARD – “LIKE YOU’LL LOSE”
Chicago trio Lifeguard release their debut album Ripped and Torn this week and here’s one last early taste. “Like You’ll Love” is dubby and angular in all the pleasing post-punk ways.

JULIE DOIRON – “EVERYBODY MISSES YOU” FT. CHRIS SHEPPARD
Julie Doiron and Everyone Asked About You’s Chris Sheppard have been teasing a collaboration, and they’ve now shared a spare, bare-bones single.

GANSER – “BLACK SAND”
Chicago post-punk group Ganser have announced Animal Hospital, their first album in five years, which was produced by Liars’ Angus Andrew and will be out August 29 via Felte. “The album is about that space between what we are and what we pretend to be,” says the band’s Alicia Gaines. “You’ve got instincts: raw, animal things—and then all these systems we build, all these dreams of being civilized or advanced or whatever. But those two things don’t always line up. And time doesn’t care. Time just keeps going. It pulls everything apart, slow and quiet like water in the walls. And we’re all just in there, making noise, trying to figure out which side of the glass we’re on.”

SUDAN ARCHIVES – “DEAD”
Sudan Archives is back with her first new music since her fantastic 2022 album Natural Brown Prom Queen. Propulsive art pop track “Dead” is described as an exploration of “orchestral Black dance music.”

CURTIS HARDING – “TRUE LOVE CAN’T BE BLIND”
Curtis Harding is back, having announced Departures & Arrivals: Adventures of Captain Curt which will be out September 5 via ANTI-. It’s his first in four years. “Because I’m away from home so much of the time, a lot of these songs came from feeling adrift and wanting to get back to the ones I love,” he says. “I started envisioning this character who takes a journey and gets lost in space, then ends up traveling through different galaxies and dimensions as he’s trying to find his way back home.” This is the lead single.

HARMONY – “ANYTHING”
“‘Anything’ is a love song about dedication,” Harmony says of her tender new single. “The desire to be all the ugly and beautiful things and the transcendence of that feeling.”

KARMA GLIDER – “WAIT FOR YOU”
Montreal band Karma Glider will release their debut album, From the Haze of a Revved Up Youth, on July 11 via Mothland and fans of hazy indie rock will dig new single “Wait for You.”

MOMMA – “CHRISTIAN BROTHERS” (ELLIOTT SMITH COVER)
“Been covering this since we were teenagers so we figured it’s about time we give u a recorded version,” Momma say of their new Elliott Smith cover.

BRÒGEAL – “VICAR STREET DAYS”
“We used to frequent a bar on Vicar Street called Rialto where Daniel worked and Aidan did deliveries,” says Irish band Brògeal of this jangly new single. “The rest of the band would come down for free pints and pizza, and we made it our own social club. This is when we started our own club night called Vicar Street Social, where “feedback and debauchery” went on through the night. The track reminisces on drink- and drug-fuelled youth where we met plenty of characters and had an abundance of ramshackle and fun.”

GIRL IN RED – “HEMINGWAY”
“Last year i ended up in a really bad place with addiction, ED and depression that almost killed me,” girl in red says, adding that her new single “Hemingway” “tells a part of that story.”

R.J.F. (CEREMONY) – “EXILE”
Ceremony vocalist Ross Farrar has announced a new R.J.F. album, Cleaning Out The Empty Administration Building, due August 15 via Dais. The first single is the moody, somber “Exile.”

FROST CHILDREN – “CONTROL”
“‘CONTROL’ is our truest self,” Frost Children say of the first single off their new album SISTER, due out September 12 via True Panther/Dirty Hit. “We don’t care about perceptions anymore and we’re really just ready to take over dance music and make people bounce and feel free. Frost Children takeover is imminent.”

MOLLY TUTTLE – “THAT’S GONNA LEAVE A MARK”
Following two bluegrass albums with her band Golden Highway, Molly Tuttle has announced a new solo album, So Long Little Miss Sunshine, due 8/15 via Nonesuch. Read about the album and lead single “That’s Gonna Leave A Mark” here.

DROPKICK MURPHYS – “WHO’LL STAND WITH US?”
Boston Celtic punk heroes Dropkick Murphys have announced their 13th album, For The People, and lead single “Who’ll Stand With Us?” is a working-class protest anthem. Read more here.

OPEN MIKE EAGLE – “CONTRABAND (THE PLUG HAS BAGS OF ME)”
The ever-charismatic indie-rapper (and comedian, podcaster, screenwriter, etc) Open Mike Eagle has announced a new album, Neighborhood Gods Unlimited, and lead single “contraband (the plug has bags of me)” finds OME sounding as captivating as ever over some jazzy production from frequent billy woods collaborator Kenny Segal. Hot Mulligan have announced a new album, The Sound A Body Makes When It’s Still, and the first single is “And A Big Load.” Read about it here.

BIG THIEF – “INCOMPREHENSIBLE”
Double Infinity is Big Thief’s first in over three years and will be out September 5 via 4AD. This is the hypnotic first single.

CATE LE BON – “HEAVEN IS NO FEELING”
Cate Le Bon is back with Michelangelo Dying, her first album three years, which will be out September 26 and this is the first single.

NILÜFER YANYA – “WHERE TO LOOK”
“We started writing this song for the album, but it was tricky to get it off the ground at that time,” Nilüfer Yanya says of this new single from her forthcoming Dancing Shoes EP. “Then when we came back from tour, it suddenly clicked. Melodically it’s one of my favourite things ever. Very glad I was able to give it the time and breathing space that it needed.”

SHAME – “CUTTHROAT”
Shame are back and have announced Cutthroat, their fourth album, which will be released September 5 via Dead Oceans. It was made with producer John Congleton, and frontman Charlie Steen says. “It’s about the cowards, the cunts, the hypocrites. Let’s face it, there’s a lot of them around right now.”
