Watch Wilco debut new songs at Solid Sound day 2 ++ The Breeders, Ryan Davis, Prewn, more (pics, video)

Wilco closed out day two of their biennial Solid Sound festival with a guest-filled set that also featured the debut of two new songs. Before the full band took the stage, keyboard player Mikael Jorgensen invited out jazz artist and Fourplay founder Bob James for a rendition of his classic theme to equally classic sitcom, Taxi. After that, the rest of the band came out for a set that included appearances from Elizabeth Moen on “Forget the Flowers,” Macie Stewart on “Jesus, Etc.,” former bandmember Leroy Bach on “Handshake Drugs,” Nick Sanborn of Sylvan Esso on “Spiders (Kidsmoke),” and Natalie Merchant on “You and I.” Then there were the live debuts, of “Flawed Man” and “Losing Traction,” and an acoustic version of “I’m Always in Love.” Watch attendee-taken video of some of that below.

Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath was also on hand on Saturday, and she and Sanborn ended the night with a DJ set. Also performing throughout the day were The Messthetics with James Brandon Lewis, The Breeders, Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band, Elizabeth Moen (with Spencer Tweedy joining her for a song), Prewn, Eucademix, Mini-Mekons, Living Hour (who Jeff Tweedy joined on a Silver Jews cover) Souled American, Anthony Pirog with Wilco’s Nels Cline, and Official Claire. In addition to joining Wilco onstage, and after her guest appearance on Friday, Natalie Merchant did a surprise pop-up solo set, and S.G. Goodman and Prewn also did solo pop-ups throughout the day.
