Union Pool closed out their annual Summer Thunder free show series on Sunday (8/24), as usual, with Sun Ra Arkestra. The weather couldn’t have been nicer and there was a line around the block to get in to see the 16-strong ensemble, still led by Marshall Allen, who turned 101 back in May.
Sun Ra Arkestra did two 70-minute sets — at 3:30 PM and 5 PM — to accommodate all the people trying to see them, and more people got in as the day progressed. What a treat it always is to get to see them in such a small space.
