Soul Coughing just wrapped up their first tour in 25 years, a reunion most fans thought would never happen, with three shows in their hometown of NYC, playing Brooklyn Steel on Friday and Saturday and then capping things off at Terminal 5 on Sunday.
Friday’s Brooklyn Steel show opened with the Looney Tunes/Raymond Scott-sampling “Bus to Beelzebub,” and they went on to play almost all of their debut album Ruby Vroom, about half of its follow-up, Irresistible Bliss, and four songs from El Oso. This show also featured the tour debut of Ruby Vroom‘s “Janine,” and for it they were joined by Rachel Benbow Murdy (and her dog), who sang on the original. She also joined the band at their other two NYC shows.
Will there be more? On their website today, Soul Coughing posted a short video thanking the 25,000 fans who came out for their first tour in 25 years. It ends with the words “SEE YOU SOON?” Stay tuned.
