My Morning Jacket‘s fall tour hit NYC over the weekend for three consecutive nights at Beacon Theatre where they played unique sets each show, with no repeated songs. Night 1 featured a 20th anniversary full play of their 2003 album It Still Moves, while the other two nights pulled songs from the rest of their discography, plus a few Jim James solo songs and covers.
We caught Night 2 (10/20) which included “O is the One That Is Real” from their 2002 split with Songs: Ohia — which had only been performed once since 2017 — and was featured along with a rare outing for “Butch Cassidy” from the band’s 1999 album The Tennessee Fire. Jim James was joined by opener Madi Diaz for a cover of Cat Stevens’ “The Wind” during the encore before closing out the night with mirrorball-drenched renditions of “First Light” and “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt.2.”
