My Morning Jacket are in the home stretch of their current tour, which includes few shows celebrating 20 years of their fourth album, 2005’s Z. They ended last week with a three night run in NYC, from Thursday-Saturday (10/16-10/18) at Brooklyn Paramount; all three shows were with BALTHVS, and night one was a Z show.
All three nights got different setlists: after playing Z from beginning to end on night one, they played a few songs from their 2025 album is, among others, and gave “The Devil’s Peanut Butter,” an outtake from the new deluxe 20th anniversary edition of Z, its live debut. Night two pulled largely from Circuital and It Still Moves, and also included a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “I’ll Be Your Mirror,” and a guest appearance from Karina Rykman, who joined them on “Cobra” and a rendition of Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” Karina was also on hand for night three, joining MMJ on Black Sabbath’s “Fairies Wear Boots,” and during the encore, MMJ covered Tears for Fears’ “Head Over Heels” and “George Harrison’s “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth).”
