Lord Huron played Madison Square Garden with Waxahatchee (pics, video, setlists)
Lord Huron released their new concept album The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1 earlier this month, and they brought their tour supporting it to NYC on Wednesday night (7/30) for a show at Madison Square Garden. The stage was set in a cosmic Western theme, with the eponymous cosmic jukebox, a payphone, and a vintage movie projector set in front of piled up TV screens along a mountain range as they played a bunch of songs off the new album. Towards the end of the show, the backdrop transformed into woods, with LED lit tree stems hanging above the stage, in time for renditions of “Frozen Pines” and “Meet Me in the Woods.” They also played a few songs each off Long Lost (including “I Lied,” which Allison Ponthier joined them for), Vide Noir, Lonesome Dreams, and a few more off Strange Trails. Waxahatchee opened Wednesday night’s show, and she stuck to songs off her two fantastic most recent albums, last year’s Tigers Blood and 2020’s Saint Cloud. She also did “Problem with It” from her 2022 collaborative album with Jess Williamson as Plains, and covered Kathleen Edward’s “Six O’Clock News.” See pictures from the MSG show by Toby Tenenbaum below, along with both Lord Huron and Waxahatchee’s setlists, and attendee-taken video of both.
