Blondshell released one of our favorite albums of the year so far with her self-titled debut, and she’s on her first-ever headlining North American tour supporting it this month, which stopped in NYC for the first of two shows on Wednesday night (7/19). The location, Bowery Ballroom, was a familiar one to Sabrina Teitelbaum — she’s from NYC, was very excited to play the venue herself, having attended many shows there.
Early in the set, Teitelbaum promised to play the sold out crowd “all the songs” and she did just that, playing every track off her new album, along with non-album tracks “Cartoon Earthquake” and “Street Rat,” new song “It Wasn’t Love,” and her covers of Samia’s “Charm You” and Le Tigre’s “Deceptacon.” The crowd sang along the whole time, especially on “Olympus” and “Sepsis.” Teitelbaum commanded the stage, giving an especially fiery performance on album standout “Salad,” which closed out the night. Great set.

You have one more chance to see Blondshell in NYC this week — she plays one of Grammy Museum’s “A New York Evening with” shows at National Sawdust tonight (7/20), where she’ll perform and talk with Rolling Stone‘s Angie Martoccio. Tickets are still available. She’ll also be back in the fall supporting Liz Phair on her Exile in Guyville 30th anniversary tour, at Kings Theatre on November 24.
