After stopping in Brooklyn on Saturday, Waxahatchee‘s tour has headed south, hitting Nashville on Wednesday night (5/1) for a show at Ryman Auditorium. During the main set, she brought out MJ Lenderman for “Right Back to It” and “Burns Out at Midnight,” two songs he appears on on her fantastic new album Tigers Blood; he also joined her at her Asheville, NC show on Tuesday (4/30).
Waxahatchee had a couple more surprises in store for the encore in Nashville, when she brought out a pair of country/folk icons. Wynonna Judd joined her for a rendition of The Judds’ Kent Robbin-penned “Love is Alive,” followed by Lucinda Williams, who did her song “Abandoned” with Waxahatchee. Watch attendee-taken video clips of all that, and se below.
Lucinda was a major influence on 2020’s Saint Cloud, and Waxahatchee has covered her songs on multiple occasions; she also released a song with Wynonna, “Other Side” in 2022.
