Watch Vampire Weekend play a surprise show outside Despot’s bar in NYC

Vampire Weekend‘s tour supporting their new album Only God Was Above Us is about to hit their NYC birthplace for two shows at Madison Square Garden this weekend, but first they made another surprise stop in NYC. Yesterday afternoon (10/3), they played a pop-up show outside of Despot’s Canal St bar Time Again, the same place that Clipse played a surprise set earlier this year. Check out some footage:

Vampire Weekend’s tour hits Madison Square Garden on Saturday (10/5) and Sunday (10/6), and the latter is an afternoon show that starts at 12:30 PM. Both shows will be opened by Billy Joel tribute band Turnstiles, and Saturday also has The Brothers Macklovitch (aka A-Trak and Dave 1 of Chromeo), while Sunday also has Mark Ronson.
