Turnstile have so far released four singles from their upcoming album Never Enough (read our review), and last night they debuted two more songs from the album on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon ahead of its release this Friday (6/6). They opened up with “I Care,” which goes from punchy, post-punky verses into an explosive post-hardcore chorus. All wearing big over-ear headphones, Turnstile played the song on a brightly-lit set in front of a wall that looks straight out of a 1970s living room,” and as they transitioned into “Dull,” they switched to dark red floodlights. “Dull” opens up on a more atmospheric note, before turning into a classic, riffy, Turnstile hardcore ripper. The Fallon performances of “I Care” and “Dull” follow the releases of “Look Out For Me,” “Seein’ Stars,” “Birds,” and “Never Enough.” They’ve been playing those last three live at their recent shows, most recently including their last-minute set at Detroit’s Tied Down festival this past weekend.
The Fallon performance kicked off a run of NYC events for Turnstile. Tonight (6/4), they’ll be discussing Never Enough at Pitchfork‘s zine launch party at AG Studios. On Thursday (6/5), they play an album release show at Under the K Bridge with Teezo Touchdown, Boy Harsher, Big Boy, and End It. They’re also premiering the Never Enough visual album at Tribeca Festival on Thursday (6/5) and Friday (6/6). It screens in several other places this week too.
