The Innocence Mission will release new album Midwinter Swimmers next month and they’ve just shared the title track. Singer and songwriter Karen Peris says it’s “a small song of looking ahead to the arrival of a loved and dear person,” adding, “the contrast of the title’s two words midwinter with swimmers reminded me of how the fragile- looking, small and pale winter flowers like snowdrops are actually so hardy and enduring that they can bloom in the snow. And this seemed to connect also with the bravery of the person who has been away.”
The songs is lovely and delicate, as is the handmade music video that was illustrated and animated by Karen. You can watch that below.
Midwinter Swimmers will be out November 29 via Therese / Bella Union (preorder).
