Wisp‘s story continues to be super interesting. As a recap, Wisp is the shoegaze project of 19-year-old Natalie Lu, who made a song “for fun” called “Your face,” threw it up on TikTok, and then got signed to Interscope after the song went viral. She recently released her debut EP Pandora, which features “Your face” and five other shoegazy songs, and last night (4/29) she made her NYC debut with a sold-out show at Bowery Ballroom. I don’t know how common it is for a shoegaze band to pack Bowery Ballroom to a screaming crowd less than one month after releasing their debut EP, but I’d wager that it’s something that almost never happens. Wisp will play NYC again opening for the back-in-action cult band Panchiko at Brooklyn Steel on Friday (5/3). Weatherday are on that show too. Wisp’s upcoming dates also include festival appearances like Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and the new Pittsburgh fest Sudden Little Thrills.
