Watch R.E.M.’s original lineup reunite for first time in 17 years for “Losing My Religion”

Earlier this week, R.E.M.‘s four original members reunited on CBS Mornings for their first group interview in 27 years ahead of their Songwriters Hall of Fame induction, and at the ceremony on Thursday (6/13), they performed together. It marked the first R.E.M. performance since their 2011 breakup, and the first time that all four original members performed together since their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2007. They played a stripped-down version of “Losing My Religion,” and they still sounded great together after all these years. They said on the CBS Mornings interview that a proper reunion’s not in the cards, and hearing them play together again only makes that sting even more. Watch a video of their performance below.

The group were inducted by big R.E.M. fan Jason Isbell, who also covered “It’s The End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” at the ceremony. Watch video of that, as well as both Jason and R.E.M.’s speeches, below too.
