The Walkmen‘s Hamilton Leithauser is in the midst of his seventh annual residency at Cafe Carlyle, which began on March 6. He’s playing 15 shows at the swanky supper club this month, and he’s had a couple of special guests for the occasion so far. Dinosaur Jr.‘s J. Mascis was the most recent, joining him on Sunday night. “I def held the record for loudest songs ever performed at Cafe Carlyle until last night,” Hamilton wrote on Instagram. “Thanks j mascis for joining us for a few that was a GREAT one.” Watch their rendition of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” below.
Hamilton also joined Dinosaur Jr. for night one of their Where You Been? 30th anniversary run at Music Hall of Williamsburg in 2023.
Another recent Cafe Carlyle guest was Maggie Rogers. “Thank you Maggie Rogers for singing w me last night you were awesome,” Hamilton wrote after the show. “Maggie was the first guest ever to sing on 1959 w me and Rostam Batmanglij 9 years ago, and we did it again last night, along w ‘Heaven’ by the great David Byrne speaking of which hey David Byrne that invite is still wide open!!”
Hamilton is promising “a LOT more surprise guests along the way this month,” and he has residency dates still to come on March 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, and 29. Tickets are on sale now.
Hamilton also just released his Aaron Dessner-produced new solo album, This Side of the Island, and he’ll be on tour beyond NYC, including shows with Father John Misty this summer. See all dates below.
