The late Mark Lanegan would’ve turned 60 on November 26, a bunch of his very talented friends got together at London’s historic Roundhouse on Thursday night to celebrate his life and music. Backed by Soulsavers and Queens of the Stone Age‘s Troy Van Leeuwen, the tribute featured Depeche Mode‘s Dave Gahan, Mark’s Gutter Twins bandmate (and Afghan Whigs frontman) Greg Dulli, QOTSA’s Josh Homme, The Pretenders‘ Chrissie Hynde, The Kills‘ Alison Mosshart, Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, Duke Garwood, Ed Harcourt, and Tess Parks.

Highlights included Dave Gahan belting out “Kingdoms of Rain,” Greg Dulli performing Screaming Trees’ “Change Has Come,” Chrissie Hynde singing Screaming Trees’ “Revelator,” Josh Homme & Dave Gahan teaming up for “100 Days,” Alison Mosshart doing “When Your Number Isn’t Up”, and Duke Garwood doing “I am the Wolf.” The night finished with Greg Dulli singing “Dollar Bill,” Dave Gahan leading “Revival” and then bringing out Josh Homme to play bass on “Hit the City.”

For Homme, this was his return to the stage after QOTSA cancelled/postponed the remainder of their 2024 tour after he had emergency surgery and required “essential medical care” afterwards.
