Peter Hook & The Light are currently on the UK leg of their “Substance” tour where they are playing both New Order‘s Substance and Joy Division‘s Substance in full. Saturday night they performed at London’s Eventim Apollo, and between Substance sets, Peter Hook had a surprise for the crowd.
“Not long ago, I was honored to be asked by a wonderful, very kind gentleman if I’d play with him,” Hook said. “And this track is what we did, innit, Damon?” Damon Albarn walked out to much applause and they performed Gorillaz‘ Song Machine: Season One track “Aries,” which according to Setlist.fm, is the first time it had been performed live in front of an audience. Damon played guitar as well for a decidedly rock-ier version than the Gorillaz original. You can watch that below.
Speaking of Substance, the New Order album is back on vinyl for the first time in over 30 years.
