Last year, Morrissey announced a new album, Bonfire of the Teenagers, which he made with producer Andrew Watt (Rolling Stones, Eddie Vedder) and featured appearances from Iggy Pop, Miley Cyrus, Flea, and more. It was also set to come out on Capitol Records. Amid accusations of far right behavior by Morrissey, Miley asked for her vocals to be removed from the album, and then the record lost its release date. Last November, Morrissey said it was “exclusively in the hands of Capitol Records,” then early this year claimed the label may have been trying to deliberately sabotage the album.
There’s still no word on the album, but today on his website Morrissey Central, he posted a picture of Capitol Records CEO Michelle Jubelirer, with this statement: “Hi! I run Capitol Records and if I want to wreck Morrissey’s career no one can stop me. Bye, now!”
In the same post, titled “Capitol Wreckers,” Moz linked to a tweet with video of a plane flying in LA near the Capitol Records building that was pulling a sky banner that read “Release Mozi’s ‘Bonfire of the Teenagers.’
Meanwhile, Morrissey continues his “40 Years of Morrissey” tour which hits NYC this week for four nights at United Palace.
