Billie Eilish, who endorsed Kamala Harris in a video that she released this past September and again urged fans to vote for Harris while on stage in the battleground state of Georgia on Saturday (11/2), took a moment during last night’s (11/6) Nashville concert to address Donald Trump‘s win.
“Waking up this morning, I kinda couldn’t fathom doing a show on this day,” she told the crowd. “But the longer the day went on I kinda had this feeling of it’s such a privilege I get to do this with you guys and that we have this in a time that… I just love you so much and I want you to know that you’re safe with me. You’re protected here and you’re safe in this room.”
She introduced “Your Power” as a song about “the abuse that exists in this world upon women and a lot of the experiences that I have gone through and people I know have gone through,” and said, “To tell you the truth, I’ve never met one single woman who doesn’t have a story of abuse. Not one. I’ve dealt with some stuff myself and I’ve been taken advantage of. My boundaries were crossed, to say it politely.”
She then continued, “Now a person who is a convicted predator… someone who hates women so, so deeply is about to be the President of the United States of America. So, this song is for all the women out there. I love you, I support you.” Shouts of “Fuck Donald Trump!” could be heard from the crowd in between her speech.
After playing “Your Power,” she played a somber cover of The Beatles‘ “Yesterday,” which, according to Setlist.fm, she’d only ever performed before at the 2020 Oscars.
Her acoustic portion of the night continued with “TV,” and Billie was met by a massive crowd scream-along during the “While they’re overturning Roe v. Wade” lyric, and she stopped for applause after singing the line. Her set also included her recent Charli XCX collaboration “Guess.” Watch videos of all these key moments below.
In her September video endorsing Harris, Billie said, “We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet and our democracy.” Her brother Finneas added, “We can’t let extremists control our lives, ours freedoms and our future. The only way to stop them and the dangerous Project 2025 agenda is to vote and elect Kamala Harris.”
“Vote like your life depends on it, because it does,” Billie added.
In an Instagram story posted after Trump’s win, Billie said, “It’s a war on women.”
