Portisthead’s Beth Gibbons just released her fantastic debut solo album, Lives Outgrown, last week and will play her first solo show with her new band on Thursday (5/23) at London’s Charing Cross Theatre. That’s an intimate rehearsal show just ahead of the start of her tour on May 27 in Paris. Ahead of all that, Beth and the band stopped by the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios to record a 6 Music session where they performed five songs from Lives Outgrown and “Mysteries” from her 2002 collaborative album with Rustin Man.
If you live in the UK (or have VPN) you can watch the whole session via the BBC’s iPlayer, but for everyone else the Beeb was nice enough to share their version of the album’s lead single, “Floating on a Moment,” which sounds spectacular. The band includes James Ford (who produced the album), plus Howard Jacobs, Tom Herbert, Eoin Rooney, Richard Jones, Emma Smith (JARV IS), and Jason Hazeley.
