So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
MEGAN THEE STALLION – “LIKE A G6″ FREESTYLE”
Megan Thee Stallion dropped a new freestyle over Far East Movement’s “Like A G6” ahead of tonight’s Madison Square Garden show with GloRilla.

DIIV – “RAINING ON YOUR PILLOW”
“‘Raining on your Pillow’ is a song which brings to mind the shameful past (and present) of American imperialism,” say DIIV of the final single from their new album Frog in Boiling Water. which is out this week. “Lost in a terrifying landscape, a lone soldier ruminates on the existence of a landscape of his own far removed from conflict. Does it matter if this place is real or not? Is a false sense of hope enough to give our lives meaning in the midst of despair? A looping guitar figure plays underneath a driving rhythm in a cloud of murky atmosphere of analog synths and tape loops. Menacing, doomed, and strangely hopeful.”

IDAHO – “SNAKES”
Slowcore vets Idaho’s first album in 13 years, Lapse, comes out next week (5/31) via Arts & Crafts, and third single “Snakes” finds Jeff Martin’s long-running project in fine, glacial-paced form.

ANTHONY GREEN – “3AM” (ft. PRENTISS & KEITH GOODWIN)
The latest single from Anthony Green’s Doom. Spun. is a reworked version of Anthony’s 2023 collaboration “3AM,” and it sounds great in this more subdued, indie rock-oriented form.

UMBRA VITAE – “ANTI-SPIRIT MACHINE”
Umbra Vitae, the death metal-leaning band led by Converge’s Jacob Bannon, have shared another rager from their anticipated sophomore LP Light of Death.

PHISH – “OBLIVION”
Phish have shared the second single from their upcoming album Evolve, a funky, organ-fueled song called “Oblivion.”

FOOTBALLHEAD – “YOUR GHOST”
Chicago’s Footballhead have followed their recent debut album Overthinking Everything (Tiny Engines) with new single “Your Ghost,” and this one finds them embracing ’90s grunge at its heaviest.

MOULD – “CABLES”
Bristol band Mould recently signed to Nice Swan Records (Sprints, English Teacher, etc), and their first single for the label is a shouty punk song called “Cables.”

STABBING – “VORTEX OF THE SEVERED DEAD” (ft. DEVOURMENT) & “PULLED APART” (ft. PEELINGFLESH)
Houston brutal death metal/slam band Stabbing have signed to Century Media, and their first single for the label features re-recordings of the songs from their 2023 demo, “Vortex of the Severed Dead” (ft. Devourment’s Ruben Rosas) and “Pulled Apart” (ft. PeelingFlesh’s Damonteal “D” Harris).

ANDREW BIRD – “I COVER THE WATERFRONT”
Andrew Bird’s new album Sunday Morning Put-On is out this Friday via Loma Vista, and the final advance single is a rendition of Johnny Green’s jazz standard “I Cover the Waterfront,” which features a guitar solo from Jeff Parker.

DESIRE – “VAMPIRE”
Desire have shared another single from their upcoming third album Games People Play that’s due later this year on Italians Do it Better.

MARINA ALLEN – “DEEP FAKE”
“‘Deep Fake’ felt like a little revelation,” Marina Allen says of her new single. “It spun from this writing workshop I took, led by Chris Weisman. I took guitar lessons from him when I was 20. He has all these tools for songwriting, and ‘Deep Fake’ came out of a prompt. I can’t even remember what the prompt was. It’s sort of two different songs that I just put together. I wanted the first part to feel really personal, like talking to someone you love. It’s also about naming all of these very complicated things that make up our culture. Recognizing them as a reality. But to confront them and see it as sacred.” Does the video use deep fake tech? Watch and find out. New album Eight Pointed Star is out June 7.

ORBURY COMMON – “PALE FAITH”
UK duo Orbury Common release their new album Sylvan Chute in a couple weeks and here’s an early taste that’s equally danceable and droney. “Pale Faith is a synthetic, pulsing, romp through a medieval forest – a fable of fountains and folly,” say the band. “Imagine, if you will, the ‘Merlin’ and ‘Robin Hood’ TV franchises but processed through the Hadron Collider, with the edges sanded down and a nice bit of varnish.”

PERSONAL TRAINER – “ROUND”
Dutch septet Personal Trainer will release their new album Still Willing on August 2 and have just shared a second single from the album. “Round” has some pleasing Pavement vibes.

JAKOJAKO – “MODUS”
Berlin-based modular synthesist and frequent Berghain DJ JakoJako (real name: Sibel Koçer) will release new EP Segmente on July 26 via NovaMute. “Modus” gives the EP a driving start.

AMYL & THE SNIFFERS – “U SHOULD NOT BE DOING THAT” & “FACTS”
Says Amyl’s Amy Taylor of her band’s two new songs: “Lyrically they’re both pretty self-explanatory,” says Amyl’s Amy Taylor. “‘U Should Not Be Doing That’ makes me laugh, but it’s also in a way poking fun at the shock that people still feel at a little bit of skimpy clothing, and the bitchy high school way that the music community still is (yes I’m talking to you random 40 year old metalheads sitting around a table doing lines and bitching about a 28 year old chick in a band for wearing shorts and ‘selling out’) but it mainly makes me laugh. It’s unconscious and meant nothing at the time of writing it but now I think it’s a comedic way of rubbing the dog’s nose in its own dog piss after it wee’d on your favorite rug or something.”

HORSE JUMPER OF LOVE – “WINK” FT. KARLY HARTZMAN (WEDNESDAY)
Horse Jumper of Love announced a new album, Disaster Trick, and gave us an early taste with “Wink,” which features vocals from Wednesday’s Karly Hartzman.

LUKE TEMPLE AND THE CASCADING MOMS – “I CAN DREAM”
Luke Temple of Here We Go Magic and Art Feynman has a new group, Luke Temple & The Cascading Moms, who will release their debut album, Certain Limitations, on July 19 via Western Vinyl. Here’s the first single.
