Air are on tour playing their debut album Moon Safari in full, and performed a very special show last week at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport, which was livestreamed via Amazon’s Twitch channel. It was more of a “greatest hits” set, and when they played “Playground Love” from The Virgin Suicides they brought out a special guest: Gordon Tracks!
Who? If folks at the show or watching at home didn’t already know, it became quickly clear that Gordon Tracks is actually Thomas Mars of Phoenix, who sang on the song under a pseudonym. It was the first time Mars and Air had performed the song together in 20 years and it sounded stellar as the sun was setting over the tarmac. You can watch the video of that below.
Air will bring the Moon Safari tour to North America this fall including two nights at NYC’s Beacon Theatre on October 21 & 22.
