When West Coast post-hardcore vets Thrice released their 2021 album Horizons/East, they said a followup/sequel/companion album called Horizons/West was coming too. Four years, a re-recorded version of The Artist In The Ambulance, and a country solo album from Dustin Kensrue later, they’ve finally announced it. It comes out on October 3 via Epitaph, and we’ve got an exclusive marbled violet vinyl variant up for pre-order in the BV shop, limited to 300. Check out a mock-up below.
The album was self-produced by Thrice, and it includes mixing and additional production from Kowloon Walled City’s Scott Evans. The first taste is “Gnash,” and this one finds Thrice getting heavier than they have in years, churning out the kind of forceful sludge metal we’ve heard from them on songs like “Firebreather” and “Silhouette.” It’s a banger, and you can hear it below.
Thrice will be supporting the album on a previously-announced fall tour that has support from two great newer shoegazy rock bands, Modern Color and Downward. That includes a NYC show on November 1 at Irving Plaza. All dates are listed below.
