The White Stripes have dropped their lawsuit against Donald Trump over his use of “Seven Nation Army” for his presidential campaign on social media. The lawsuit had been filed in September against Trump, Donald J Trump For President 2024, Inc and Trump’s deputy director of communications, Margo McAtee Martin, alleging “flagrant misappropriation of the musical composition and sound recording ‘Seven Nation Army.’” Jack White had shared news of the lawsuit on his Instagram, writing “This machine sues fascists.”
Billboard reports that the band’s lawyers filed a one-sentence motion on Sunday, dropping the lawsuit, noting that it was filed “without prejudice,” which means they could refile in the future. The White Stripes’ attorneys declined Billboard‘s request for comment.
Jack White is still a very vocal opponent of Trump, calling him a “wannabe dictator” and “known, obvious fascist” in a Instagram post after Election Day.
Meanwhile, Jack White continues to tour for his new album No Name, which was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2025 Grammys.
