The Rolling Stones‘ “Hackney Diamonds” North American tour hit the NYC-area on Thursday night (5/23) for the first of two shows at East Rutherford, NJ’s MetLife Stadium. The band stuck mostly to the hits-filled setlist they’ve been doing on this tour, but they did switch it up a bit, giving Some Girls track “Shattered” its tour debut, and, as he has for the past few shows, Keith Richards took lead vocals on two songs, “You Got the Silver” and “Little T&A.” See Thursday night’s setlist below, along with attendee-taken video from the show.
Asbury Park Press points out that Mick Jagger worked in a mention of Donald Trump’s hush money trial in their banter, saying, “I was a bit worried about the weather tonight. I thought we were going to get a Stormy Daniels but we’re all right.” He also shouted out Clifton’s Tick Tock Diner, saying, “Last time I mentioned that we had been to this diner, the Tick Tock Diner. So on the way to the show I found out they got a new sandwich and it’s called The Mick Jagger. I’ve never had a fucking sandwich named after me. I’m very, very proud.”
Jon Batiste opened Thursday’s show, and Lawrence opens the second NJ date, which is on May 26 at MetLife Stadium. Resale tickets are still available.
