Post-hardcore/noise rock legends The Jesus Lizard returned last year with the great new album Rack, their first album in 26 years, and they’ve since been rolling out more where that came from. November saw the release of non-album single “Cost of Living,” and today we get “Westside.” It’s another great one, and the band says it takes influence from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story (hence the name) and the recently-deceased David Lynch’s Lost Highway. The “give him back his arm” lyric, David Yow says, was inspired by Robert Blake’s character in Lost Highway saying “Give me back my phone.” Check the song out below.
The Jesus Lizard have been gradually touring their way around the world, and right now they’ve got upcoming West Coast US dates in May, followed by a Europe tour that concludes with appearances at the Barcelona and Porto editions of Primavera Sound. All dates are listed below.
