On Monday, The Cure wiped their website so that it only had a new logo for the band and a sign-up for their mailing list, while also changing the profile pics on their social media to the new logo. Something was up.
On Thursday, fans in the UK started receiving black envelopes from the band with addresses printed in silver. Inside was what at first seemed to be a blank black postcard, but then was revealed to have embossed lettering that read “SONGS OF A LOST WORLD” and a date in roman numerals, November 1, 2024.
It’s hard not to see that as a confirmation of The Cure’s long-awaited new album, which Robert Smith has said is titled Songs of a Lost World, and a release date. November 1, 2024 is a Friday, the standard worldwide day to release albums, so that tracks. There has been no activity online from The Cure since Monday, but things are moving fast, as that possible release date is just six weeks away.

The Cure played a handful new songs on their Shows of a Lost World tour in 2023 and 2024, and two of those songs were recently released as a live 12″.
