SXSW has expanded beyond Austin. The festival just wrapped up its second edition in Sydney, Australia, and has announced details for its inaugural SXSW London, which runs June 2-7.
Like the original in Austin (which started in 1987), SXSW editions in London and Sydney both have music and film/TV festivals, as well as the industry conference component that also covers tech. SXSW London is being billed as their first European festival and will take over venues and spaces in the Shoreditch neighborhood of East London. On the music side there will be 78 showcases across 20 venues, including Village Underground, 93 East and Shoreditch Town Hall. The film festival will host between 80 and 90 international premieres, along with other films and TV screenings.
SXSW London will take applications for both music and film beginning October 28 with a deadline in January. Learn more here.
Meanwhile, the original SXSW holds its 2025 edition from March 7-15 in Austin.
