Illinoise, the theater/dance production based on Sufjan Stevens‘ 2005 album Illinois, is headed to Broadway later this month, and vocalists for the Broadway production have now been announced. They include My Brightest Diamond‘s Shara Nova, Elijah Lyons, and Tasha Viets-VanLear (who releases music as Tasha). All three have been part of the Park Avenue Armory and Chicago Shakespeare Theater productions, and Shara sang and toured with Sujfan for Illinois.
Tickets for the St. James Theatre performances, which begin on April 24, are on sale now.
Justin Peck is director and choreographer of Illinoise, and he co-wrote the book with Jackie Sibblies Drury. Timo Andres did the arrangements, and the cast includes West Side Story alumni Yesenia Ayala, Ben Cook, Jeanette Delgado, Carlos Falu and Craig Salstein; So You Think You Can Dance winners Gaby Diaz and Ricky Ubeda; and dancers Kara Chan, Christine Flores, Jada German, Zachary Gonder, Rachel Lockhart, Brandt Martinez, Dario Natarelli, Tyrone Reese, Craig Salstein, Ahmad Simmons, Byron Tittle and Alejandro Vargas.
