Safe Mind, the duo of Boy Harsherʼs Augustus Muller and LUCY (aka Cooper B. Handy), released their debut single back in September. “6′ Pole” is a lot of fun; there are elements of Boy Harsher’s industrial darkwave, but this is brighter, poppier and funkier with a sleazy glamour to Handy’s vocals.
They’ve made a video for the song, directed by Muller, which is set at a wild house party. “I had an idea to do a house party in the style of Gummo meets SLC Punk,” says Muller. “We were just having fun — we wanted cool freaky people looking at the camera and being themselves.” You can watch the video, which premieres in this post, below.
You can catch Safe Mind on tour this week — their first ever shows — with precision strikes on both coasts, hitting Amherst, MA on Wednesday (10/2) followed by shows in Philly, NYC, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The NYC show is at TV Eye on Friday, October 4. All dates are listed below.
