Remember Sports have announced The Refrigerator, their first album since 2021’s great Like A Stone, due February 13 via Get Better Records (pre-order). The album was self-produced and recorded at Chicago’s Electrical Audio, shortly after studio founder Steve Albini’s passing. “Everyone there seemed really invested in the space personally and creatively, so it felt like an important place to be with a lot of love,” says singer/guitarist Carmen Perry. “We definitely worked a little more reverently because of that, but also with a lot of joy and compassion about trying new things and following stupid ideas.”
Carmen also adds that The Refrigerator “feels like a Saturn return record–messy, hard, crazy-making, but ultimately healing. A convergence of all my past selves into one sad adult who needed direction and reassurance and, most of all, safety.”
The Refrigerator opens with Remember Sports’ recently released single “Across the Line,” which saw the band going in kind of a Wednesday/Ratboys-style grungy alt-country direction, and the album announcement is accompanied by second single/second track “Bug,” which finds them more in faster indie-punk territory. “We don’t know what genre we are,” the band adds. “We just want everything to sound like us.” Check out both singles below.
