As The Smile and other Radiohead-related projects remain active, Radiohead themselves have been in hibernation, and Ed O’Brien said “there’s no Radiohead at the moment” back in 2022. But now, while speaking with the Hay Festival Querétaro over video call on Sunday (9/8), bassist Colin Greenwood revealed that the band recently rehearsed together.
“We did some rehearsals about two months ago in London, just to play the old songs,” he said. “And it was really fun, had a really good time.”
“We’re still talking all the time, we just need to make a plan and get some time together sorted out in advance,” he adds. “I’ve never been very good at that. Too busy dicking around in this studio.” Watch the full interview here.
Obviously a rehearsal doesn’t necessarily mean they have plans in the works, but regardless, that’s an exciting development! Let’s hope we do hear more from Radiohead sooner than later.
Meanwhile, The Smile just recently announced their second album of 2024 (and third overall), Cutouts, which comes out on October 4.
