Primal Scream announce new album ‘Come Ahead,’ share “Love Insurrection”

Primal Scream have announced their 12th album, Come Ahead, which will be out November 8 via BMG. It’s their first in eight years, and the album was produced by David Holmes (who also produced 2013’s excellent More Light) with the band’s Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes.

“I’m very excited about this album in a way that you would be making your first record,” says Gillespie. “If there was an overall theme to Come Ahead it might be one of conflict, whether inner or outer. The title is a Glaswegian term. If someone threatens to fight you, you say, ‘come ahead!’ It’s redolent of the indomitable spirit of the Glaswegian, and the album itself shares that aggressive attitude and confidence.”

“There is a message of hope in the record,” Gillespie adds. “But it’s tempered with an acceptance of the worst side of human nature.”

The first single from the album is “Love Insurrection” which has a early ’70s psychedelic, cinematic soul feel a la Curtis Mayfield or Issac Hayes. You can listen to that below.
