Pixies have announced their tenth album and first with new bassist Emma Richardson (ex-Band of Skulls), The Night the Zombies Came, due October 25 via BMG (pre-order). Frank Black says, “Fragments that are related and juxtaposed with other fragments in other songs. And in a collection of songs in a so-called LP, you end up making a kind of movie.”
The album includes the recent single “You’re So Impatient,” as well the newly-released “Chicken.” This one’s more of a slower, swaying ballad compared to the previous single, but still done in that eccentric Pixies way. Check out the song and its lyric video below.
Pixies recently wrapped up a North American tour with Modest Mouse and Cat Power, and they’ve got more dates around the world coming up, including an Australia/New Zealand run with Pearl Jam. All dates are listed below.
Frank Black, meanwhile, will be playing his 1994 sophomore solo album Teenager of the Year in full on a 30th anniversary tour in 2025 that hits NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on February 1.
Former Pixies bassist/vocalist Kim Deal recently released the new solo single “Coast,” which was recorded by Steve Albini.
