Philly emo-punks Brackish will follow their 2022 self-titled album with a new EP, Rear View, on September 27 via self-release. The band made it at NJ’s Landmine Studios with drummer Zach Miller and Tim Fitzpatrick engineering and producing, and first single “Lay Down” finds the band dishing out a big, soaring emo-pop song that would fit nicely next to anything from The Early November (whose Ace Enders worked on their last album) to newer torch-carriers like Arm’s Length.
“‘Lay Down’ came about at a time where I was feeling frustrated with a lot of things around me,” says guitarist/vocalist Connor Byrne. “Musically, personally, and out in the world. In the human experience, it’s easy to look around you and feel like you’re hopelessly stuck. This song sticks out to me as a reminder that you’re not obligated to stay in those places. Let that want for improvement drive you someplace else. Progress is not linear. Keep going.”
