Tim Armstrong’s Epitaph imprint Hellcat Records has teamed up with Tapehead City to give Operation Ivy‘s classic Energy a 35th anniversary cassette reissue. There’s a “2-Tone edition” and a “UV edition,” both limited to 1000 copies each. Per the product page: “Both variants were duplicated using RTM tape and include the remastered versions of all 19 original tracks. The 2-Tone shell print is from an actual scan of the original cassette. The UV print includes imagery direct from album artwork. The Jcard has a reformatted version of the original lyric sheet drawn by Jesse Michaels that never made it on the OG tape.”
Tapehead City owner Charlie Kaplan says, “Me and my friends grew playing in bands that would always cover Rancid and Opivy. These songs have been a part of me for so long. Working on this project was so much fun and such an honor. I really hope the fans are happy with the tapes. I think they came out great.”

Last year, Tim Armstrong and Jesse Michaels reunited to play “Take Warning” with members of The Specials in LA. Tim and Jesse also have a new band together called Doom Regulator (originally called Bad Optix).
