Having released “Drop Dead,” the first single off her third album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, earlier this month, Olivia Rodrigo is ramping up her promotional activities. She did a pair of intimate performances, the first of which happened on Friday night (4/24) at The Echo in Los Angeles. After starting the show with “Drop Dead,” she brought out Weyes Blood for another song off the new album, this one unreleased. Phones weren’t allowed at the invite-only show, so we haven’t seen any footage, but hopefully we’ll hear more of it soon.
Olivia was then in NYC on Sunday for an even more intimate performance, this time just of “Drop Dead.” She made a surprise appearance at an open mic night at tiny Williamsburg venue Pete’s Candy Store and performed the song; Industry Monk shared video on her Instagram, writing, “was a pleasure to accidentally open up for @oliviarodrigo @petescandystore today #oliviarodrigo #oliviarodrigofans #petescandystore #dropdead” Watch that below.
Olivia is the musical guest on this week’s SNL, so it seems likely that she’ll stick around NYC all week ahead of that. Are more surprise appearances to come? Stay tuned.
