For her new album Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, Mitski hasn’t announced a lengthy North American or international tour like she’s done in the past, instead doing a series of multi-night residencies in select cities. She’s explained that decision in a new video posted on social media, where she says she’s not doing a “proper tour” for this album. “Right now, I feel a stronger pull towards writing more,” she says. “And in order to do that, I just have to cut back on performing.”
“And it doesn’t mean that I’m never going to tour again,” she adds. “That’s not what it means. It just means at this point in my life, I just feel more excited about writing a lot.” Watch the full video below.
Mitski started her residency run at The Shed in NYC, and she has shows in Europe through May, followed by Australia and Asia. See all dates below.
