Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds‘s new album Wild God arrives this summer, and he’s giving us a second early taste with “Frogs,” which you can hear below. “The sheer exuberance of a song like ‘Frogs.’ It just puts a big fucking smile on my face,” Cave says.

The journey to creating Wild God began with “Frogs.” The first lines Cave penned were powerfully evocative, referencing the first murder in the Bible, Cain’s slaying of Abel. He wrote; “Ushering in the week he knelt down and crushed his brother’s head in with a bone/It’s my great privilege to walk you home.” This striking couplet became the opening lines to Wild God’s sweeping epic “Frogs” and set the tone for the imagery and themes that followed.

Wild God comes out on August 30, and Cave will be on tour with the Bad Seeds in the UK and Europe in September, October, and November. Nick also has solo shows lined up in Europe and Iceland in June and July. Nothing in North America at the moment, but stay tuned, and see all current upcoming dates below.
