So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
JANA MILA – “LIKE ONLY LOVERS COULD”
Jana Mila hails from Amsterdam but echoes ’60s/’70s Lauren Canyon on “Like Only Lovers Could,” the new single from her upcoming New West Records debut, Chameleon. “I’ve always been a big fan of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young,” she told Magnet. “And the melody I came up with was really asking for some warm, comforting harmonies.”

PREVIOUS INDUSTRIES – “ZAYRE”
Previous Industries (aka Open Mike Eagle, Video Dave and Still Rift) have shared another song off their upcoming debut album for Merge Records, Service Merchandise. “Zayre” is a quirky indie-rap song produced by Child Actor, and the trio describe it as “war drums in the break room.”

PUSCIFER – “THE ALGORITHM”
Puscifer (one of three active Maynard James Keenan-led bands) wrote a song about social media called “The Algorithm” for Sumerian Comics and Sumerian Records’ soundtrack to their comic book series based on Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho.

DISCLOSURE – “SHE’S GONE, DANCE ON”
Disclosure have shared “She’s Gone, Dance On,” a house-pop banger that samples Ennio Morricone’s “Dance On” from Così Come Se.

DUA SALEH – “UNRULY” FT. SERPENTWITHFEET
Dua Saleh is back with their first new music of 2024, the atmospheric “unruly,” which features serpentwithfeet. “Something about his voice is so captivating,” Saleh says of serpent. “I think our connection musically is queerness, being able to have that against-all-odds connection with somebody where we may have had to resist our identity initially when we were younger. There’s a power that queerness holds for both of us.”

MARTHA SKYE MURPHY – “IRL”
Martha Skye Murphy’s debut full-length album Um comes out in June, and she’s shared another new single from it, the eerie and intimate “IRL.”

WINONA FIGHTER – “SUBARU”
Rising Nashville pop punks Winona Fighter have re-released their song “Subaru” with a new video that pays homage to Anchorman and Wayne’s World. Singer Coco Kinnon says, “‘Subaru’ was truly never written to be as important as it is… but during our most recent tour, the amount of people who told us it’s their favorite Winona Fighter track was crazy. The fans really made me have a whole new love and appreciation for it so we’re extremely excited to re-release ‘Subaru’ into the world.”

GRUESOME – “FRAILTY”
Gruesome, another led by Exhumed’s Matt Harvey, are set to start recording their third album this summer, but first they’ve shared “Frailty,” a shreddy melodic death metal song and their first new track in four years.

NILE – “CHAPTER FOR NOT BEING HUNG UPSIDE DOWN ON A STAKE”
South Carolina death metal vets Nile have announced their 10th album, The Underworld Awaits Us All, due August 23 via Napalm Records, and the new single is pretty damn brutal.

CARPOOL TUNNEL – “THE RISK”
San Francisco’s Carpool Tunnel embrace some sunny retro rock vibes on “The Risk.”

THE EARLY NOVEMBER – “THE EMPRESS”
Emo vets The Early November have shared another taste of their upcoming self-titled LP, and it’s a soaring song that sounds like a fresh update on classic Early November.

JASPER BYRNE + SONIC – “MIRRORS”
Do you miss those mid-’90s days when people were into shoegaze and drum and bass? Jasper Byrne + Sonic clearly doo and it still sounds cool.

A SHORELINE DREAM FEAT. MARK GARDENER – “EVERYTHING TURNS”
Colorado dreampop vets A Shoreline Dream teamed up with Ride’s Mark Gardner for this track from the band’s upcoming album Whitelined.

METRONOMY – “CONTACT HIGH” FEAT. MIKI AND FAUX REAL
Here’s another track from Metronomy’s upcoming EP featuring collaborations with newer artists and this one heads to France courtesy Miki and Faux Real. “Whenever I listen to Metronomy I hear my voice and it annoys me” Metronomy’s Joe Mount says, “I can’t detach myself from the song. I hear ‘Contact High’ and I think ‘wow I’m involved with this!’ I can listen to it again and again.”

MAX RICHTER – “MOVEMENT, BEFORE ALL FLOWERS”
Max Richter’s new album In a Landscape is out in June and here’s the first taste.

ONEIDA – “HERE IT COMES”
It’s the first single from Brooklyn indie rock vets Oneida’s 17th album.

SASAMI – “HONEYCRASH”
Sasami Ashworth new single “Honeycrash” is steeped in widescreen ’90s alt-rock, with roaring guitars, a big chorus, and gurgling electronics.

GIFT – “GOING IN CIRCLES”
“We were really inspired by bands like Primal Scream, Oasis and Massive Attack,” says GIFT’s TJ Freda on the new single from their second album. “It’s our psych-rock tribute to U.K. rave culture in the ‘90s.”
