Canadian group Nap Eyes have announced The Neon Gate, their first album in three years, which will be out October 18 via Paradise of Bachelors. There is a lot going on thematically on this record, including musical adaptations of poems by W.B. Yeats (“I See Phantoms of Hatred and of the Heart’s Fullness and of the Coming Emptiness”) and Alexander Pushkin (“Demons”), while other songs were inspired by an online Dungeons & Dragons campaign and Nintendo video game Wave Race 64.
The album includes previously released songs “Feline Wave Race,” “Ice Grass Underpass” and “Passageway,” and the new single is that Pushkin adaptation, “Demons,” which is lovely folk rock (and goes down much easier than the footnotes might have you believe). You can listen to all four songs below.
